College Readiness Workshop ft. David Madsen, PhD
This special free workshop features a renowned guest: David W. Madsen, PhD and Professor Emeritus from Seattle University.
As part of our commitment to college and career readiness, Professor Madsen is returning after teaching college essay writing workshops at Key to Change last year. This is a college readiness session focuses specifically on organizing ideas and setting expectations before the first day of school for many students, readying them to have energizing conversations with their counselors, ideas already in mind.
Born and raised in Everett, Dr. Madsen attended Saint Edward’s Seminary in high school, Seattle University for his BA in Classics, and earned his PhD at the University of Washington also in Classics. During his years at Seattle University he taught courses in the humanities, ancient and medieval history, Latin, and world literature. For nine years he directed the University’s Honors Program and for twenty five years he moderated the University’s Naef Scholars Program. Both Honors and the Naef programs required application essays, so he has plenty of experience in evaluating student essays.
