Seattle University President leads second lecture of Inspiring Possibilities college and career readiness series

Dr. Morris and Eduardo Peñalver engaged in conversation on November 6, 2025

Last week, Key to Change’s Inspiring Possibilities series continued with a very special guest speaker. Eduardo Peñalver, President of Seattle University, joined our Executive Director and Founder, Dr. Quinton Morris, for an engaging conversation on college admissions and scholarships. He offered invaluable insights and practical advice to an audience of Key to Change students, local high schoolers, parents, and community members.

President Peñalver is a distinguished American legal scholar whose work focuses on property and land use, as well as law and religion. He earned his B.A. from Cornell University and his J.D. from Yale Law School. In addition to his leadership at Seattle University, he previously served as Dean of Cornell Law School and taught at the University of Chicago Law School and Fordham Law School. He has also been a visiting professor at Harvard Law School and Yale Law School.

The lecture and subsequent Q&A offered a rare opportunity to learn directly from a university president about what colleges truly seek in applicants. For high school juniors and seniors preparing their college applications, this discussion provided valuable guidance on how to make their submissions stand out. All attendees left feeling inspired and better equipped for the journey ahead.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to President Peñalver for sharing his wisdom with our community and wish him the very best as he prepares to assume his new role as President of Georgetown University next spring.

The Inspiring Possibilities series will continue on Tuesday, November 18, when Matt Hayes, President and CEO of the Museum of Flight, will join Dr. Morris for another engaging discussion. Don’t forget to RSVP if you’d like to attend!
