String Students perform LIVE on Classical King FM 98.1

This past Friday, July 23rd, three winners from the Solo String Festival performed live at Classical King FM 98.1’s NW Focus Live. The three student musicians, which included Thea Weinbeck (first place winner of the senior division), Henry Williams (first place winner of the junior division) and Eden Pawlos (second place winner of the junior division) performed their selections of their repertoire and were interviewed by host Sean Maclean. As a bonus, Beth Gutherman Chu, who served as a festival judge performed a solo at the conclusion of the live recording.

To celebrate the evening, students’ families, Key to Change board members and Classical KING FM staff were in attendance. The first place winners received college scholarships and all award recipients received music supplies.

The second annual Solo String Festival took place April 9-11, 2021 where 40+ middle and high school violinists and violists from South King County performed and competed for prizes at Seattle Symphony’s Benaroya Hall. To read more, click here.
