Key to Change alumni inspire young artists at Seattle PTSA Reflections event

KTC PTSA

Key to Change alumni Zora Rose Mtunga (Seattle Central College, finance major) and Jolene Nguyen (University of Washington, biochemistry major) were the keynote speakers at the Seattle Council PTSA’s National PTA Reflections contest on February 2, 2025. The event celebrated a talented cohort of student artists from Seattle schools, along with their families, recognizing their outstanding works of art, poetry, and music.

Zora and Jolene described how their time at Key to Change—learning the violin and viola—transformed them and how the discipline required to create music gave them self confidence. Both Zora and Jolene said they were introverted when they started, but performing in front of audiences made them more extroverted. They also spoke about how making music with others is a way to build community. Overall, the experiences Zora and Jolene shared showed how studying music played a major role in shaping them into confident young adults and successful college students they are today.

We are incredibly proud of Zora and Jolene for using their voices to inspire the next generation of young artists.
