October was amazing—with student soloing alongside symphony orchestras, and a special masterclass

Student performed solos with two different orchestras

In one incredible week, Key to Change students Eden Pawlos (violin, pictured above) and Mason Nguyen (viola, pictured below) performed as guest soloists with symphony orchestras. Eden made her second solo appearance with the Grammy-winning Seattle Symphony and Mason made his solo debut with the Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra. These are opportunities most professional musicians only dream of. The support of the Key to Change community has helped Eden and Mason achieve them!

Additionally, several students (pictured below with Dr. Quinton Morris) also performed a pre-concert recital and alongside members of the Seattle Symphony. Students got to rehearse with the professionals, ask them questions, and observe the artistry of some of the most accomplished classical musicians in the world.

And a renowned musician gave a unique masterclass

Students also recently worked with the incomparable Demarre McGill, principal flutist of the Seattle Symphony (pictured below in our Renton studio). While our masterclasses often feature world-class violinists or violists, this was a unique chance for students to explore music-making with one of the greatest wind players on the planet. It was an energetic and inspiring class that our students, families, and donors won’t forget.
