Dr. Quinton Morris and Matt Hayes engaged in conversation on November 18, 2025

Last week, Key to Change welcomed a special local guest to continue our Inspiring Possibilities series. Matt Hayes, President and CEO of the nearby Museum of Flight, joined our Executive Director and Founder, Dr. Quinton Morris for a lively and insightful conversation.

Hayes has led the Museum of Flight since 2017 and been part of the organization for more than two decades in a wide range of roles. Before becoming CEO, he spent many years as both a volunteer and staff member. His journey began in 2000 when he volunteered to help restore a World War II-era B-17 bomber plane. He later joined the museum’s staff in 2006, ultimately serving as Vice President of Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer before stepping into executive leadership.

Originally from the rural town of Byron in western New York, Hayes is a lifelong aviation enthusiast. He learned to fly and completed his first solo flight at age 16. He went on to earn his B.S. in Accounting from Villanova University, where he graduated magna cum laude.

Guests left the event feeling curious and inspired about ways they can get involved with the Museum of Flight, whether through its educational programs, volunteering opportunities or community partnerships. Hayes also provided valuable insight into careers in STEM and local industry pathways, including opportunities connected to organizations like Boeing.

The Inspiring Possibilities series will continue in the new year on Thursday, January 15, when David Zapolsky, Senior Vice President of Chief Global Affairs & Legal Officer at Amazon, in conversation with Dr. Morris. Be sure to RSVP if you’d like to attend!
