Students featured on Unmute The Voices on KING FM

Three violin students, Eden Pawlos, Richie Doan and Amariah Strand are featured young artists on the video series, Unmute The Voices, on Classical King FM 98.1. The event took place at the recital hall at the Seattle Chamber Music Society in downtown Seattle. Students performed the music of Caleb Vaughn-Jones, the inaugural Composer-in-Residence of Key to Change and were interviewed by Dr. Quinton Morris, host of Unmute The Voices and executive director & violin instructor at Key to Change. Students discussed their experiences learning the music of Jones and also spoke about their aspirations for the new academic year. 

Eden Pawlos is a 9th grader at Kentridge High School. She has been taking violin lessons at Key to Change for the past two years. She is the second place winner of the Solo String Festival, which was held at Benaroya Hall this past April. She also performed live on Northwest Focus Live on Classical King FM this past July. 

Richie Doan is a freshman majoring in Computer Science at the University of Washington. He is a graduate of Renton High School and studied violin at Key to Change for the past four years. He was recently awarded a scholarship from Key to Change to continue his academic studies in college. 

Amariah Strand is a 10th grader at Kent-Meridian High School. She has been taking violin lessons at Key to Change for the past three years. She received an honorable mention at the Solo String Festival, which was held at Benaroya Hall this past April. She has also performed a Pre-Concert Recital for the Seattle Symphony during their community music concerts.

Unmute The Voices is a radio show and video series celebrating people of color in classical music. Unmute The Voices airs the third Saturday of the month at 3pm pacific time on KING FM, with encore broadcasts of the previous episode the preceding Wednesday at 7pm pacific. It is produced in partnership with Classical KING FM.
